I hereby propose a method of solving this problem...
A meeting should be organized for all the people dealing with this, especially the Russian and the Ukrainian delegation. I know, there have been several already, but here's my twist... The meeting should take place in one of the homes where they have had no more gas for several days to make it nice and warm (and livable), and no other sources of warmth. I'm sure all the bigheads would reach an agreement in an hour or two... Also, they should take a few lawyers with them, so that contracts could be signed immediately.

I take it you haven't had heat? Is all of Europe cold? Or just a few places. I haven't heard a lot on this besides the fact that Russia blames the Ukraine and vice versa. Of course, I'd probably know the answer to this if I turned on the news or checked out an article online...that'd be too easy :o). How about confirming your heat status? And does no heat mean no hot water? What do you do for bathing? I'm assuming you have electricity and can boil water...unless you have a gas stove that is.
We are lucky. The Slovenian gas reserves can last about 14 days more. Some of the factories were forced to close or to use alternative heat sources. More of the industry will be forced to close after those 14 days. Homes, hospitals, schools etc. will have gas for as long as possible (those bigwigs really should have a meeting in one of the countries where the gas crisis is worse, like Romania, Turkey, Moldova, Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia, to name just a few. And spreading). In some of those countries, there's nothing left.
Russia hasn't sent gas to Europe for 10 days now. We still have hot water and heat, and of course, it's all powered by gas...
Wow. I hope they can pull it together. January isn't a good month to argue over heating fuel. It's lousy for politicians to play their games and the people suffer. Hopefully they won't get re-elected.
