Orchids

Wow, another post in one day! (granted, the first one was just a copy-paste, but still)

This one was triggered by a friends' blog, she just posted a photo of her orchid, preparing to bloom. So I decided to share a few photos of our orchids (photographed by my husband). For all of you who don't know, we share our home with a cat, a parrot and about 70 orchids. Not to mention the vegetable and herbs garden our smaller balcony has turned into, the carnations on the large balcony (I'll post some photos when they're in bloom), a lemon tree, an olive tree and various other plants.

But, let me return to those 70 orchids... We have several of the Phalaenopsis species, in all kinds of colors. Our Dendrobiums (again, several kinds) keep making keikis (babies), so we practically ran out of family and friends to whom we can give them to. One of our three Vandas (rescued from certain death from a store last year) is preparing to bloom, the Cattleyas are resting at the moment, we're hoping for the Cymbidiums to flower later this year, and we just added a Vanilla orchid to our "family".

And now for the photos...

You have such a beautiful collection! I am looking forward to the day that mine grows. Hopefully, since they are starting to bloom now this will happen sooner rather than later.

Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful photos! I love orchids! =)

Beautiful. We were given one for Evan's funeral this past fall and amazingly enough, it has survived the move and ME. It's so cool that you have so many. I really like the white and red one.
